Before you decide you want to breed your Doberman Pinscher, there are certain facts that you need to know before hand. Your female Dobie needs to be, checked out for any health problems she may have, such as hereditary defects, like hip dysphasia, heartworms and other parasites.
Your female Dobie will need to be, taken to the veterinarians’ office; there your veterinarian will perform a series of test on your female Doberman pinscher. In addition, hip dysphasia can be, discovered by the use of an x-ray, which is by no means harmful or painful to your Dobie. However, when looking for heartworms or any other parasites, your Doberman pinscher will have to produce a sample of its stool for the veterinarian to examine.
In order to prevent heartworms or other parasites, heart wormers maybe used to prevent your female from getting heartworms or other dangerous parasites. Therefore, your female Dobie needs to be, checked out by a veterinarian three to five times a year. There are many reasons as to why your Dobie needs to be, checked out before any kind of breeding takes place. The reason being is, that if your female Doberman Pinscher has any or all of these types of health problems, then many times the litter that your Dobie has will be, at risk of the same health problems, and you do not want that.
Your female Dobie needs to possess a stable temperament, meaning that she is not overly shy or overly aggressive. Your female Doberman pinscher must show a good representation of the Doberman pinscher breed, meaning that she is not highly aggressive, or is in poor health. This needs to be, considered in order for your female Doberman pinscher, to produce a good quality litter that people will feel confident about when buying one of your Dobie puppies. The baby Doberman pinscher is going to be living with this family and no family wants an aggressive dog around especially if the family has kids.
Before breeding to a stud dog, you and the owner will need to discuss the characteristics of both the female and male Doberman that you are going to breed together. So therefore, a meeting will need to be, set up for that occasion. You will need all the records that your female Doberman pinscher has received from the veterinarian’s office, and the stud dog owner must provide you with up to date records about the stud dog you plan on breeding with. Many more questions maybe asked at this meeting, like living areas for the puppies, whom would you be selling too and will you be able to afford to feed the puppies until you find homes for them.
Moreover, after the litter has been born and your Doberman Pinscher puppies are six to eight weeks old, you will need to get their first shots. The puppies’ first shots consist of Canine Corona virus and Canine Distemper. As well as Adeno virus type two/ Para influenza/ and Parvovirus, and Leptospira. These are just the first three shots that your new Dobie puppies’ will receive. Your puppies will also need a rabies shot as well, these shots will need to be given once ever three months.
